The Nanyue King’s Tomb Museum is the mausoleum of King Zhao Mo of the Nanyue Kingdom during the Western Han Dynasty in China, located beside Yuexiu Park. The Nanyue Kingdom was an independent state in southern China over 2,000 years ago. Although it only lasted for about 90 years, its territory was vast, covering present-day Guangdong, Guangxi, and northern Vietnam. Its capital was Guangzhou. The museum mainly showcases the tomb of the Nanyue King and the unearthed artifacts. Among them, the “Silk Threaded Jade Suit” of the Nanyue King is the earliest and most complete jade suit discovered in China so far. Here, you can also learn about the practice of burying living people with the deceased during the slave society period in China.
